Valetham is a synthetic anti-muscarinic cholinergic antagonist used as an visceral anti-spasmodic agent, also used to hasten dilatation of cervix when the same is delayed during labour.

Therapeutic uses: Valetham has following usage :

  • Used as an visceral anti-spasmodic agent.
  • Used to hasten dilatation of cervix when the same is delayed during labour because of smooth muscle relaxant property.

Side effects: Commonly observed side effects are as follows :

  • Dry mouth,
  • Blurred vision,
  • Difficulty in swallowing and talking,
  • Constipation,
  • Dilatation of pupil.
