Solifenacin is a synthetic anti-muscarinic cholinergic antagonist, used as vesico-selective agent for treating overactive bladder with symptoms of an urgent need to urinate, a need to urinate often, or leakage of urine.

Side effects : Following side effects may be elicited :
- Dry mouth (xerostomia),
- Constipation,
- Blurred vision,
- Tachycardia,
- Urinary tract infection,
- Bladder pain,
- Bloody or cloudy urine,
- Chills,
- Decrease in the frequency of urination,
- Decrease in urine volume,
- Frequent urge to urinate,
- Painful urination,
- Swelling of the lower legs.
Drug Interactions : Solifenacin may interact with following drugs :
- Pramlintide
- Potassium tablets/capsules
- Certain azole antifungals (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole)
Precautions
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist
- If you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies.
- Your medical history, especially of kidney disease, bladder problems, difficulty urinating, enlarged prostate, GI blockage, constipation, personal or family history of glaucoma, liver disease, bowel disease, myasthenia gravis.
Contraindications :
- Contraindicated in patient with hypersensitivity to solifenacin or any component of the formulation.
- Contraindicated in urinary retention, gastric retention, uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma.
