Levocetirizine (active R(-) enantiomer of cetirizine) is a second generation H1- receptor blocker (Anti-histamine), useful in abolishing the symptoms of the allergic reactions like-Hey fever (allergic rhinitis / coryza), pallinosis, hives (urticaria/ atopic dermatitis), dermographism, eczema etc.

Therapeutic uses : Levocetirizine has following usage :
- Useful in treating & preventing the allergic reactions like-Hey fever (allergic rhinitis / coryza), pallinosis, hives (urticaria/ atopic dermatitis), dermographism, eczema, sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes, & skin rash and common cold.
- May be used adjuvant in seasonal asthma.
Note :- In contrast to Cetirizine, it is effective at half the dose and appears to produce few side effects.
Side effects : Second-generation H1-antagonists show very few side effects in converse to First generation; following side effects of levocetirizine may be aobserved:
- Drowsiness, dizziness,
- Tiredness,
- Dry mouth,
- Constipation etc.
It have negligible sedation.
