Definition
- Laryngomalacia is the most common congenital anomaly of larynx.
- It is the most common cause of stridor below 2 year of age.
- It affects supraglottic larynx.
Clinical Features
- Presents in first 6 months of life

Episodic or intermittent stridor
Increment in
- Crying
- URI
- Supine
Decrement in
- Prone
- Sleeping calmly
No fever, No dysphagia
Investigations
Laryngoscopy (Investigation of choice)
⇓
Omega epiglottis
Floppy aryepiglottic folds
Prominent arytenoids
Treatment
- Supportive treatment
- Reassurance
Virtually all patients improve by 2 year of age.
