Trade name : Faronem, Farobact, Orpenem, Farom
Antibacterial spectrum :  Faropenem active against many grampositive as well as gram-negative bacteria, including some anaerobes. Strep. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis are highly susceptible. It is resistant to some forms of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase.
Therapeutic uses :  It has been mainly used in respiratory, ENT and genitourinary infections.
Mechanism of action : Carbapenems inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Legal Status :  The FDA still have not approved this drug.
Side effects : Usual side effects are diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and rashes.
