Edrophonium is a Cholinergic Agonist (Indirect acting/ Anti-cholinesterase agent Reversible), used for treatment of myasthenia gravis, post-operative decurarization.

Therapeutic uses: Edrophonium has following usage :
- Used in the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis.
- Used for post-operative decurarization.
- May also be used to assess cholinesterase inhibitor therapy, for differentiating cholinergic and myasthenic crises, and for reversing the effects of non-depolarizing neuromuscular blockers after surgery.
Note :- Due to the availability of other agents, edrophonium use has become limited.
Side effects: Edrophonium causes following adverse effects :
- Excess drug may provoke a cholinergic crisis (atropine is the antidote).
