Dicycloverine (Dicyclomine) is a synthetic anti-muscarinic cholinergic antagonist, used to treat muscular spasm, morning & motion sickness, IBS etc.
Dose : 20 mg (adult), 5-10 mg (children)
Route : Oral, I.M.

Therapeutic uses : Dicyclomine has following usage :-
- Used as anti-spasmodic agent because it has direct smooth muscle relaxant action (specially in GIT).
- Used to treat morning sickness and motion sickness because of anti-emetic property.
- Used to treat Irritable bowel syndrome IBS, minor diarrhea & dysmenorrhoea.
Point of interest :
- It is not recommended below 6 months of age because of atropinic toxicity symptoms.
- Breastfeeding is not recommended while using this drug.
Side effects : Commonly observed side effects are as follows :
- Tachycardia,
- Confusion,
- Urinary retention,
- Increased intraocular pressure.
