Aceclofenac is a Aryl-acetic acid derivatives & non-selective COX inhibitor (traditional NSAID), used for the relief of pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It is a somewhat COX-2 selective congener of diclofenac.

Therapeutic uses : Aceclofenac has following usage :

  • Used as Anti-inflammatory, Analgesic drug in rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, bursitis, ankylosing spondylitis, toothache, dysmenorrhoea, post-traumatic and postoperative inflammatory conditions-affords quick relief of pain and wound edema.
  • Used as Antipyretic agent to treat fever.

Side effects : Aceclofenac may cause following Side effects :

  • Epigastric pain,
  • Nausea,
  • Headache,
  • Dizziness,
  • Rashes.
  • Gastric ulceration,
  • Bleeding,
  • Reversible elevation of serum aminotransferases.

Contraindications :

  • It should not be given to people with porphyria or breast-feeding mothers, and is not recommended for children.
  • It should be avoided near term in a pregnant woman because of the risk of having a patent ductus arteriosus in the neonate.
